Errors

The API uses plain HTTP status codes. When something goes wrong, the body says what, in words you can show or log.

The error body

Every error is JSON with the statusCode, a message and usually the error name. When the input is invalid, message lists every problem at once.

400 Bad request
{
  "statusCode": 400,
  "error": "Bad Request",
  "message": [
    "email must be an email",
    "password must be a string"
  ]
}

Status codes

  • 400Bad requestThe input is invalid, or the workspace header is missing or malformed.
  • 401UnauthorizedThe session is missing, expired or revoked. Sign in again.
  • 403ForbiddenYou don’t have permission, or the workspace header doesn’t match the session.
  • 404Not foundThe resource doesn’t exist, or you can’t see it. A revoked conversation token is also a 404.
  • 409ConflictThe request clashes with what’s there now, like replying in a thread whose first message was deleted.
  • 429Too many requestsSlow down: a conversation token can post 60 times a minute.
